It’s extremely important that your eyes are tested at least once every two years and once a year if you have certain eye conditions, for example if you have glaucoma or you’re over 40 and have a family history of glaucoma.
This is because the majority of eye conditions don’t have any obvious symptoms, so it’s a good idea to ensure that you’re not at risk of any potential problems.
What you can look forward to
When you visit us for your eye health check you can look forward to a warm welcome from a member of our friendly team. You’ll be given plenty of time to relax before being shown into our comfortable consultation room.
Your eyes will be examined by one of our experienced opticians using some of the most advanced technology and equipment. Both your internal and external eye health will be checked and you’re invited to ask any questions that you may have at any time.
Our examination process
- During your eye examination you may need to have your eyes photographed — this painless, non-invasive procedure allows your optician to gain a 360° view.
- We offer two types of eye examination appointments — our standard 30-minute examination or an enhanced 45-minute examination which includes a retinal scan and perfectly suits patients who require some extra time to discuss their eye health treatment options more thoroughly.
- Our new Retinal Scanner views multiple layers of the wider retinal area — allowing us to spot the first signs of changes that would likely be missed by standard fundus camera. There’s also no need to dilate your pupils, enabling a much more comfortable experience. The additional time allows Mr Husain to interpret and explain the scan results in detail and answer any questions you might have.
- The cost of a private Standard examination is £33.00, a private Enhanced Examination is £55.00 and for NHS patients an upgrade fee of £25 for the enhanced examination applies.
