I Spy - Autumn Activities

Updated: Feb 11, 2020

The end of the year is near but that doesn’t mean that things are slowing down at The Wright Eyewear Company. Quite the opposite, it’s been a jam-packed couple months and we’ve got plenty of exciting things in the pipeline – so sit down, grab yourself a cuppa and indulge yourself with our Autumn catchup blog.

Anniversary celebrations

We’ve had a lot to celebrate this year, with the practice scooping two fantastic accolades – ‘Sidcup’s Most Loved Business’ and the Bexley Business Excellence ‘Love your local business’ award.

The celebrations don’t stop there, as this November marks five years since our Practice Manager Kelly bought the practice. To mark this landmark occasion, we’ll be holding a series of open days from 9-15 November.

During this week, there’ll be loads of prize draws and we’ll be showcasing glasses collections from Lindberg, Face a Face and Porsche Design. There’ll also be a whole host of special offers available for our Rodenstock and Tokai ranges. So if you’re looking for a new frame or feel like treating yourself for Christmas, this is the week to do it.

We wouldn’t have reached this momentous milestone without you, our wonderful clients, so please pop in store and get involved in the fun.

Nutrition for good eye health

We recently came across a news story about a teenager who developed permanent sight loss after living on a diet of chips and crisps.

It’s an extreme and rare example, but it did remind us of the importance of diet in maintaining good eye health, so here are some nutritional tips.

Vitamins A, C and E are the most important vitamins for maintaining the overall health of the cells and tissues of the eyes. These vitamins are found mostly in fruits and vegetables such as carrots, tomatoes and oranges, as well as nuts and seeds.

Omega 3 fatty acids have been found to combat the symptoms of dry eyes – a nasty condition which occurs when your tears don’t provide adequate moisture for your eyes. Foods that contain Omega 3 include oily fish such as salmon, mackerel and tuna; and nuts and seeds such as flaxseeds, chia seeds and walnuts.

Vinyl Factory frames

We stock a wide variety of brands in store and one of our favourites at the moment is the Vinyl Factory Collection. This retro collection is inspired by music icons and looks super stylish due to the signature guitar shaped temple tips.

Despite being a little quirky, all of these frames have been designed with the greatest care and refined details, providing you, the wearer with a striking yet sophisticated look – they’ll make a great accessory for your Autumn/winter wardrobe.

Our in store Vinyl Factory frames are available in a wide range of styles, so whether you’re looking for something retro, classic or elegant, you won’t be disappointed.

Sourcing eyewear from afar

At the end of September, three members of our team headed off to Paris to attend Silmo – one of Europe’s largest annual optical trade fairs.

Spanning a humungous 80,000 square metres, with near to 1,000 exhibits there was plenty to see and do, and our trio covered a lot of ground during their visit.

The fair featured some of the newest and most innovative spec ranges on the market, and the team were seriously impressed. So much so, that they might have brought back a fab new collection or two with them, so watch this space!

We hope you enjoyed our Autumn updates and that you’re as excited as we are about our upcoming plans and you’ll come along and get involved – look forward to more exciting news in our next blog.
