BUY LESS, CHOOSE WELL, MAKE IT LAST

Many of us in the last few years have been more focused on how we could be greener, kinder to the environment, less wasteful. I read an article a while back with this quote from fashion designer Vivienne Westwood and it’s been my mantra ever since.

Buy Less, Choose Well, Make It Last!

The article was about how we should think of every clothing purchase as a permanent decision. So much of what we buy ends up in landfill and even when we think we’ve done our bit by donating to charity shops, often the excess still ends up there.

The authors solution was to treat your potential clothing purchases like a potential tattoo – permanent. At first I thought that this seemed like an extreme concept but the reality is, it really wasn’t that long ago that we made do and mended, we bought things that were made to last by saving up and investing in quality items. Maybe it’s time we got back to that way of thinking.

Stand proud because as a client of ours, you’re already invested in quality items that are made to last. And because we’re stylists we’re not supplying you with fast fashion, we’ll style you with pieces that suit your individual style for many years to come.

The quality of the materials in our niche brands such as Lindberg, nine, Face a Face and Porsche Design are made to last. These materials are high quality acetates, titanium and medical grade stainless steel. This means beautiful hand painted metal frames with colours that look as vibrant today as they will next year. It means hand riveted and double hinged joints. It means, for the most part, being able to repair, rather than replace. We want our clients to enjoy wearing their glasses for years to come and many of you have asked for us to reuse a frame and if the condition is good, we’re always happy to.

Our lovely client Terry will testify this, having just purchased a beautiful new Thintanium.

His last pair were over 12 years old and had numerous replacement lenses, but with regular refereeing, it was time for an extra pair just in case!

Reusing your frames is also the perfect way for you curate a wardrobe of eyewear without buying 2 or 3 frames at once.

So the next time your neighbour says you should’ve gone to specsavers, remember the saying buy cheap buy twice. By investing in a high quality product, you’re doing your bit to reduce waste, whilst looking fabulous at the same time.
